CloudCamp Silicon Valley (Enterprise)

Welcome to the CloudCamp SV topic board where attendees (you) submit topics you want discussed at CloudCamp. The theme for this CloudCamp is The Enterprise such as ROI, private cloud vs. public cloud, security, where to get started, technical hurdles & non-technical hurdles

Browse ideas submitted by other attendees, propose new topics and vote on the topics that interest you the most. The top 3 ideas will automatically be approved for CloudCamp. The rest of the topics will be voted upon at the beginning of CloudCamp. GET STARTED!

Also: Do you want to give a 5 minute lightening talk? Let us know and we’ll put you in touch with Dave Nielsen (CloudCamp organizer) to schedule these short-form talks.

Thank you!

Proposed sessions for CloudCamp Silicon Valley 5/23/11

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

  1. Disaster Recovery to the Public Cloud

The public cloud offers a new way for companies to improve their disasater recovery capability and eliminate the cost and management of tape technology. How best to conquer the challenges of large data sets, fast access to data and security in the public cloud?

    • Hybrid cloud management and the challenges it presents

Systems management is becoming increasingly complex: organizations are adding new cloud server capacity, yet still have significant investments in physical on-premise boxes. How should one manage everything, whether servers are physical boxes, virtual servers in the datacenter, or cloud servers up in Amazon EC2?

        • Dealing with VM Sprawl

How does an enterprise deal with the day to day of VM sprawl and the millions of other things, while also building the CIO mandated enterprise cloud.

          • PaaS Requirements

What do you look for in a PaaS? Which features are a must, which are nice-to-have? What pain points are you trying to solve?

            • Scalable Architecture on Amazon AWS Cloud

“With increasing demand, ever-growing datasets, unpredictable traffic patterns and need for faster response times, “scalable architecture” has become a necessity. Here, we will see how the traditional concepts and best practices for scalability have to be adopted for the cloud. Further, we will go through the unique advantages that Amazon AWS cloud offers for architecting scalable applications. As an architect, you need to identify the components and bottlenecks in your architecture and modify your application to leverage the underlying scalability.

We will cover the following topics:

              1. Scalability principles for the cloud
              2. Leveraging AWS services for application components
              3.…

              • PaaS and Workload Optimization in Private Clouds

The foundation of PaaS solutions is that they take an application-centric approach to deploying and managing cloud environments. However, the term 'application' covers a broad array of deployments. A more effective PaaS approach is to deliver an application-centric view of cloud, but do so in the context of a type of application, or workload type. PaaS and workload optimization couple to deliver meaningful application-centricity for the cloud. This session will explore these concepts and discuss an approach for doing this in a private cloud.

                • web application migration to the cloud using GAE, and why to redevelop the application again?

there are a lot of web applications which need scalability, so we can discuss new model or steps on how to re develop your web application using GAE SDK ,
